Tory Burch Fall 2025 Runway Show: A Reinvention Worth Watching
Tory Burch’s latest runway show was, without question, one of the most highly anticipated of New York Fashion Week. With a front row packed with A-list attendees, including Martha Stewart, Alessandra Daddario, Ciara, and Amanda Seyfried, and supermodels Irina Shayk and Adriana Lima walking the show, the brand successfully executed a marketing blitz that underscores the reinvention Tory Burch has been leaning into.
A Brand Evolution
Having attended Villanova for undergrad, Tory Burch was omnipresent in my college years. Her logoed sandals were practically a uniform for Main Line sorority girls heading to class, grabbing coffee, or spending weekends down the shore in Avalon. But as the years passed, I personally shied away from the brand, as I tend to avoid overt branding. However, this latest collection felt different—less commercial, more refined, and undeniably chic.
The Collection
Backstage at the Museum of Modern Art, Tory Burch expressed her deep-rooted love for American sportswear, questioning why New York continues to be seen as second (or third) in fashion after Paris and Milan. 'Sportswear started here,' she pointed out, reinforcing her commitment to redefining its place in contemporary fashion.
The atmosphere of the show was heightened by the soundtrack, a mesmerizing laugh track by Charlotte Adigéry & Bolis Pupul. The eerie, looping laughter added an almost surreal quality, a sharp commentary on the chaotic state of the world and fashion’s response to it.
Burch’s vision for Fall 2025 blends classic American sportswear with modern, unexpected twists. The inspiration notes describe an intentional deconstruction—cardigans slashed at the sleeves, sweatpants in brushed wool, and sweaters embroidered to mimic tweed. These elements created an aesthetic that felt fresh yet familiar, innovative yet wearable.
Of the standout pieces, four looks particularly resonated with me:
Look 14: A structured leather jacket with multiple snap-closure pockets, paired with relaxed trousers. This leather jacket can be a New York cool girl statement or thrown over denim and a white tee for an upscale lunch date.
Look 15: A belted, printed button-down dress layered over a tiered, matching skirt. Feminine without being overly sexy, this silhouette hit my personal sweet spot for both fit and aesthetic.
Look 26: My standout piece of the collection. I’m already planning to preorder this coat—it’s the kind of effortlessly chic outerwear that transitions seamlessly from a quick matcha run at Erewhon to an après-ski dinner at Casa Tua in Aspen.
Look 32: A shearling-trimmed coat with a fur-like texture, styled with color-blocked wide-leg pants. Luxurious yet relaxed, it exuded quiet sophistication.
Look 39: A structured blazer paired with a silky skirt tied to the side, creating a balance between sharp tailoring and fluid draping. The styling felt effortless and modern, making it a standout moment of the show.
That said, not every piece hit the mark. The jackets in Looks 30 and 31 lacked the polish of the rest of the collection, particularly in construction. They felt less refined in execution compared to the otherwise elevated lineup, although they received positive feedback from many in the industry.
My Look for the Show
For the event, I wanted to balance the undeniable femininity of the sequined skirt and boots with a muted-tone oversized boyfriend sweater and a suede bomber jacket to bring the look a bit of tomboy energy. I wore:
A Shopping Experience Reimagined
Beyond the runway, my personal shopping appointment at the Tory Burch Madison Avenue boutique was a revelation. The experience was luxurious yet approachable, and I found myself drawn to a surprising number of pieces. Her bucket and tote bags remain at an accessible price point while still feeling incredibly chic. I ended up purchasing:
The Future of Tory Burch
This collection represents a confident step forward for the brand, blending practicality with high fashion in a way that feels timely and relevant. With a newfound balance between experimentation and ease, Tory Burch is successfully reclaiming her space in the modern woman’s wardrobe. If this show is any indication, the brand’s resurgence is only just beginning.
